Happy Sunday!

Does this Sunday find you comfy and cozy? I hope so and I hope you made the most of your Independence Day celebrations.

I have so many fond memories of 4th’s past and the nostalgia hits hard; the big parade where every float threw candy out to all the kids, grand fireworks displays over the lake that were frightening as a little girl but eventually grew on me , swimming in a pool or the river all day and eating ALL the delicious foods! Even just thinking about it makes me want a hot dog real bad…

My opinions of fireworks have changed since I was little; what once scared me turned into something magical. But since having my own dogs, I think the whole ritual of fireworks has once again changed for me. My girl Ellie has gotten increasingly terrified of them as she’s gotten older. She’s a frenchie and so I have genuine concerns for her each year, between the heat and her panic. I bend over backwards to make sure she’s going to live through it and that basically means staying inside with three noise machines, loud tv for most of the day and plenty of calming treats and activities to keep her distracted. And yet, she still struggles. She really enjoyed her morning walk today; our town is pretty sleepy after a full night of partying so it was like we had the whole place to ourselves. So peaceful…

Anyway, however you chose to celebrate, I hope it was memorable.

Same time next week.
