Good morning friend.
How is it October already? I know I was impatiently awaiting the Autumn season but I feel like it is speeding by too fast now. Slow down friend! Speaking of flying…this weekend the Pacific Airshow visited and it never fails to surprise me with how LOUD those amazing aircraft can be. I highly recommend watching an airshow at some point in your life, it’s truly amazing.
I spent the last week soaking up as much time as I could with my family that was visiting from Montana. I had been looking forward to their visit for so long that our time together breezed by. It was a great visit, productive and fun, despite being short and I am looking forward to the next time we can get together.
I was delighted to wake up one morning to a haunting bout of fog, a normal for living on the coast but one that has been missed lately. I love the way you can feel the mist on your face as you walk through it and there is a distinct spooky vibe that floats along with you. A perfect start to October.

With so much of my time spent hanging with loved ones, I didn’t get too creative with my coffee this week. But I do have an addition you may want to try. This week I just added cinnamon to a plain vanilla simple syrup recipe, and I really love it.
Cinnamon Vanilla Simple Syrup
Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 Tbsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp cinnamon
Instructions
Add your sugar, water, vanilla and cinnamon to a small pot over medium heat.
Allow to simmer for 10 minutes and stir occassionally.
Take pot off heat and allow to cool for several minutes
Once syrup is cool, transfer to your container of choice and label.
Store in the fridge
Because I have been making my own simple syrup lately, I have been looking for the perfect container/dispenser and I think I may have finally found one that works really well. I have tried several different combinations with items I had on hand already but I kept making a mess each morning so I finally admitted I needed a new solution. These Simple Syrup Bottles. No more mess to clean up each morning and they look darn cute too.
This week was short and sweet, and I hope you join me next Sunday for another quiet moment together. I have a new recipe up my sleeve…so I’ll meet you back here…
Same time next week.

Here’s Why Experts Say to Ditch Your Old Cutting Boards

Before you prep another meal, here’s what you need to know:
Plastic boards shed microplastic particles into your food with every cut.
Wooden boards trap moisture and food residue, the perfect breeding ground for hidden bacteria and toxic mold that transfers to your food.
